What is an Instructional Designer?
Animated explainer video - Personal project (2015)

Project background
As a result of having to constantly define what Instructional designers do, I thought it would be a good idea to make a series of animations explaining different aspects of our jobs.
This animation is one of a series I plan to make.

Key goals of the project

The key goals of the project were to:
-
learn some basics of how to use Illustrator with AfterEffects
-
create a bit sized learning that would simply explain to people our role as Instructional Designers
-
keep it under a minute
-
engage with exciting voice over, music and sound effects

My role
-
I wrote a short script explaining the role of an Instructional Designer does, based on conversations I had with other ID's.
-
I drew out a very basic storyboard to graphically present this concept.
-
I then designed all the elements I needed using Adobe Illustrator.
-
After watching a range of YouTube videos and practicing my skills with key frames, I bought them to life using Adobe After Effects.
-
Once all the animations flowed properly, I added in background music, sound effects and my own voice over, to create this short explainer video.
