Project background

While creating a few modules for Nando’s internal HR team, to give to Managers in the restaurants, one of the section involved ‘Setting the right tone in the restaurants and making people feel welcomed’.

It was all about ensuring you are doing the right things in the restaurants so that all employees are happy and feel safe.

Key goals of the project

The key goals of the project were to:

bring concepts to life, rather than spoon feeding content
create engaging interactions to practice theory
keep the lively, colourful and friendly brand

My role

I came up with the concept of getting Managers to search and find places in a restaurant where they could be making innocent mistakes, and making employees feel excluded.
We based a lot of the scenarios around grey areas (in that some people might agree with them and some people may not), and I thought this would be a good way to provoke thought and encourage the learners to change their way of thinking.
Using inspiration from photos of restaurants as well as some stock images from iStock, I drew an illustrated restaurant in Adobe Illustrator.
I then created personalised branded characters.
Once designed, I then used layers, triggers and variables in Storyline to bring it all to life.
